Adam’s been zerperting Cadence’s stomach for awhile with no reaction. Today’s the first time she’s done anything – and it’s her first laugh! 🙂

Auntie Katie’s visit!
Katie came for a visit in mid-January. I’m grateful for such great friends who offer to hold Cadence so I can eat (Thanks Katie!) and who declog Cadence’s boogs (thanks to Celeste and Matt!). We’re lucky to be surrounded by so much love. 🙂
2 month doc appointment
on the way to the doc… The little buglets that Celeste, Matt and Dylan got us worked well. Cadence was entranced and kept smiling at them.
January 17th we had Cadence’s two month doctor’s visit. Dr. Hess said Cadence was doing well. She still has a cold but doc says her lungs sounded good. Phew. The office was filled with people with the flu. Awesome.
Cadence is now 24″, 14 lbs 0.5 oz with a head circumference of 40.5 cm. For those nerdy people (like me!) who want to see her growth in a chart/graph: Cadence’s weight height head. Cadence is in the 88.8% for height, 87.4% for weight and 89.6% for head circumference. We have a big girl on our hands (and I can feel it in my back and shoulders. what a porkie baby!)! I thought she was going to be over 15, Adam thought under.
Cadence got immunized for DTAP, Hep B, IPV (Pediarix), Hflu B, pneumococ/conjugate and rotavirus. Three shots and one drink! She didn’t like the drink at all (seemed to fuss more over that then the shots). The nurse was very quick. She was worried that Cadence would pass out – her lips turned blue with the screaming. She told Adam to blow in her mouth which confused us both. Luckily, she didn’t pass out. Adam picked her up afterwards and she calmed down. She took it like a Chin and promptly fell asleep. The rest of the day she wasn’t too fussy; she was super tired and slept from 6.30 onward. She didn’t want to be put down so I held her all day. Seems fair since she had such a traumatic day. What a good baby…

For Uncle Butts birthday, we dressed Cadence in the monkey costume Chris bought for her. I have to admit (I kinda thought costumes were stupid before!) she looks super cute. Happy birthday Chris!

So nice that most of the family came to Boston for a visit.
The Kwiks came the weekend of the 22nd. So nice to finally all be together (we figured it hadn’t been since Jason & Hai got married in 2006!). Brandon was very sweet with Cadence. Jade is having a girl in May and we’re all excited to continue the tradition of dressing the kids alike.
More random Cadence observations (one month old!)
- Gets super fidgety when gassy (kicks her legs a lot) – doesn’t mind wet diapers as much.
- I definitely have noticed her weight gain the past 2 weeks.
- she coos & smiles more. I love when she laughs in her sleep.
- The past couple of days she’s slept really well. Haven’t gotten up as much (once or twice) during the night. I feed her & she goes back to sleep. If she’s fussy, I put her on my chest and she’s good. She seems to be in a better mood & more alert during the day. It’s going to be hard not to share a bed. On a side note, I really missed sleeping on my stomach while pregnant but haven’t done it yet!
- She still hates getting her diaper changed.
- “Hi baby(z)” has become our favorite game – Cadence smiles when you say it to her (see video in December uploads).
- She thinks her feet are very amusing. She slumps over & stares @ them while thinking they’re the coolest.
- Still awake & fussy 10 – 1 ish. Read on Lucie’s List that this is normal – babies are on sensory overload by that time. Bouncing on the pilates ball and walking seem to calm her down.
- I think Cadence recognizes me. Nurse at the one month said she calms with me.
- | second week of December Cadence started blowing spit bubbles. Super cute.
- | everyone has been telling us how beautiful Cadence is; totally giving me a big head.
- Her right armpit gets super sweaty.
- Just before Christmas time, Cadence started playing with her tongue (sticking it out when she smiles) and drooling.
One Month Visit
Yesterday we had our appointment with nurse Elaine Dors. Said our baby was perfect! Though she was judgmental about the whole co-sleep thing (Adam lied to her).
Adam thought Cadence would weigh in at 9 lbs 2 ounces; I thought around 10. She was 10 lbs 11.3 oz (85%); height 22″ (86%); height circumference 38.5 cm (93%).
She’s definitely been feeling heavier…
